INTERVIEW: ALEX ROSS ON "BRING THE THUNDER"

Newsarama.com has just posted an interview with Alex Ross on the subject of his new mini-series from Dynamite called Bring the Thunder. Here's an excerpt:

"Bring the Thunder is kind of a mini-movie on paper. This was a creative challenge that I’d never been given before to try and craft something that might play really well as a movie. The challenge is that if you do a really good movie it doesn’t always make for a great comic book but trying to find that middle ground that for me demanded a sense of grounding in the contemporary."

JUST IN: DC UNIVERSE 1994 POSTER

One of Alex Ross' least liked project this poster includes the Justice League as it was in the mid-90's therefore it includes characters that weren't among Alex's favorites because he's such a fan of the more classic heroes from the 60's and 70's. Since Alex was just starting out he had to take on more editor-oriented projects such as this and was technically forced to include Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern instead of Hal Jordan, Steel which was a new character back then, the bearded, long-haired, shirtless and hook-for-a-hand Aquaman and last but not least, Superman with a mullet.

In my opinion, although this poster is not one of Alex's best work it still has some commendable points, I really like Catwoman and that shadowed Hawkman plus Shazam and Steel are really well done, too.

NEWS: DAYS MISSING: KESTUS

I totally missed this cover when it came out with the September solicitations due to its indy nature (it's published by Archaia and Roddenberry Productions). So I have updated the link above to include this comic. The cover has this odd angle but the detail on the Earth in the background as well as the hand on the foreground is astonishing. Click on the cover to see it full size.

DAYS MISSING: KESTUS #1 (of 5)
Written by Phil Hester
Illustrated by David Marquez
Cover by Alex Ross
Archaia and Roddenberry Productions are proud to present the thrilling sequel to the critically acclaimed series DAYS MISSING. DAYS MISSING: KESTUS continues the saga of The Steward, a mysterious being whose ability to “fold” days of time has resulted in critical human events being absent from our historical record. Their existence is not remembered…but the occurrences of these days have forever changed the course of our evolution.
Since humanity’s birth, The Steward has stood as a guiding force for our species. But now, he is not alone! The emergence of the ancient being, Kestus, may put everything he knows in question, and the future of those he means to protect in jeopardy.
