NEWS: ROUGH JUSTICE

Heads up! Today, March 30th, 2010, this amazing, hardcover sketchbook of Alex Ross hits the streets. On this book, Alex opens up his vault of drawings and writes about all of his unused and unpublished material from all the years he's been working at DC to editor Chip Kidd, with whom he also worked on the acclaimed Mythology: The DC Comics Art of Alex Ross. JUST IN: MARVELS LITHOGRAPH

One of my favorite posters has finally arrived! This MARVELS lithograph, which is a blown-up version of the cover of the hardback edition of the first Alex Ross painted miniseries for Marvel. Although, it can be considered only a reprint, its massive scale (almost as big as the Crisis on Infinite Earths poster) and slew of characters make up for anything you can throw at this bad boy. I love it!Continue supporting this site, buy something from Amazon.com through this link. Thanks!

All wrapped up in that gorgeous cover by Alex you see on the left.

JUST IN: KINGDOM COME AUDIOBOOK

First it was the graphic novel, then came the novelization and finally the audiobook. The last one was an audio dramatization of the novel, which was written by Elliot S. Maggin. On the down side, this audiobook came on 2 tapes, (yes cassettes!) which is rather low-tech for something that came out in 1998, almost on the verge of the new millennium and Y2K and all that nonsense. Why not make a CD version available as well?. Any way, I'm looking for a place to convert these, long out-of-production cassettes into a digital medium. I have a few projects in mind about what to do with that audio once I have it digitized .

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Adapted by: John Whitman
Based on a story by Mark Waid and Alex Ross and the novelization by Elliot S. Maggin
Approximate running time: 3 hours
Featuring the voice talents of: Mike Mearian, Don Peoples, Garet Scott, John Cunningham, Kent Broadhurst, Jeff David, Chuck Cooper, Harry Goz, Barbara Rosenblat, Craig Zakarian, Mike Arkin, Bob Lydiard, Peter Newman, Birgit Darby, Mark Finley, Igor Goldin, MacIntyre Dixon, Chloe Patellis
and the guest voices of:
Dennis O'Neil, Mark Waid, Mike Carlin, Dan Raspler, Charles Kochman, Peter Tomasi, Greg Ross, Janet Harvey and Elisabeth Vincentelli

NEWS: NEW COVERS!

I have unearthed 3 new covers for all collectors to hunt.
On the left is a variant cover to issue #1 of Project Superpowers: Meet the Bad Guys, in which we see no logos and no other characters except for the one in the background (The Green Lama).
In the center spot we have a preliminary sketch for USSA, the trade paperback collection of Sal Abbinanti's Atomika series. I'll show you the finished piece as soon as Alex gets done with it. So check back often (like I need to tell you that!).
Finally, on the right is the Oz/Wonderland Chronicles #4 which was previewed before during 2009's convention season, showing only the right side of it, this is the finished piece.

STATUES & BUSTS: part 7

EARTH X BUSTS (Final): We continue with this large set of busts. Now, let's cover the ones that were designed by Alex Ross but sculpted and painted by many other talented individuals.

HULK & BANNER: This oversized (compared to the rest of the mini-busts in this line) was only designed and painted by Alex Ross and sculpted by Joe DeVito. It was limited to 3900 units and depicts the ape-like Hulk separated from Bruce Banner who's now, a child. As with many other Earth X busts there's also a bronze version of this one.
Check out more photos at Joe DeVito's website.

DEATHLOK: (LEFT) Creepy choice of character. Sculpted by Martin Canale and Pablo Viggiano. This bust was limited to 3000 units. Visit Martin Canale's website. Click here.

THOR - GODDESS OF THUNDER: (RIGHT) Sculpted by fan-favorite Mike Hill, in another great collaboration with Alex. This statue was limited to 2500 pieces.

OFFICER PARKER: These statues' production numbers keep getting smaller each time. This bust sculpted by Howard Kalish and painted by Dan Lane is limited to 700 pieces.

IRON MAN 2020: (LEFT) This rare item was sculpted by Martin Canale and painted by ACME Designs. It's really hard to find one of the 550 pieces that were produced.
BLOODSTORM: (RIGHT) Even more limited than the previous one (450 units) but somehow easier to find this vampiric storm was sculpted by Gabriel Marquez and painted by Dan Lane. See more of Gabriel Marquez's work here.

SPIDERS MAN (LEFT) and BLACK BOLT (RIGHT) were also produced in a limited to only 450 units run. Both were sculpted by Howard Kalish and painted by Dan Lane and Acme Designs respectively. These are the crown jewels of this collection, if you have any of them consider yourself lucky.

There were also 2 other prototype busts that, to my knowledge, probably never got past the prototype stage, one is of the demon Belasco (right) and the other was Hyperion. If anybody has any information about these 2 please help me out. Thanks!

These sculptures are NOT IN MY COLLECTION, that's why I don't have better resolution images of them. Remember, the more limited the statue the more expensive it gets. I've seen the Black Bolt one being sold for US$200.
