NEWS: PLANET HULK DVD

Mark your calendars everybody! On February 2010 Marvel is going to release another one of their animated, direct-to-DVD features, this time it's Planet Hulk. Based on the hit comic series of the same name written by Greg Pak, the story finds our not-so-jolly green giant stranded on an alien planet called Sakaar in which he's forced to participate in gladiator-style games and eventually leading a revolt against his oppressors.
Although I'm more of a fan of the DC animated films, this one looks pretty cool and that awesome Alex Ross cover just makes it way cooler! Hopefully there would be a feature on the creation of that image with an interview with Alex among the DVD extras. Keep your fingers crossed!

NICE cover. Alex does a great Hulk. Anyone else sense the influence of Joe Jusko?

Interested readers might compare "Planet Hulk" with the "War World" story arc in Superman circa 1989. Check out the back issues if you get a chance, as the artwork was nice and it was a fun story - your standard gladiatorial uprising against the resident control freak. The Justice League TV cartoon did a loose adaptation in Season 1 Episode 10, but the comics were more fun imo. :-)
