EARTH X SOUNDTRACK

The Earth X Special Slipcased Edition comes with a cool double CD which contains a lot of cool new stuff that isn't usual for a comic book, here's the lowdown:
* Soundtrack for the comic book by Scott Vladimir Licina Which includes some really cool compositions in a wide variety of genres within the instrumental category. "Youth Gone Wild" (the Red Skull's song) is hard rock while "Return of the Silent King" (Black Bolt's song) is a very Renaissance-sounding song. I have a few favorites but I specially like Mar-vell's song "Rebirth". With the CDs come a booklet that shows each song's name next to the character it belongs to in black and white, which you can see below:

These images belong to the one of the videos that also come within the CDs. Below you can see color versions of some of these images as well as new ones:

*The CDs also contain videos which you can see below:

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD CD

Night of the Living Dead (30th Anniversary Edition) was a reedition of George Romero's classic 1968 movie, done by his cowriter John Russo to "update" this film for the new millennium. The movie had a lot of changes made to it, it was recut, new scenes were added, some of these were even filmed for this new version, with actors from our time and the ending was changed, unleashing the ire of zombie fans the world over. There was also a new soundtrack done by Scott Vladimir Licina, who we all remember as the guy who did the soundtrack for the Earth X Special Edition, who is a friend of Alex, so in kind, he did the cover for this other musical production.
The image is a classic of The Living Dead, and it's been featured in several advertisements such as posters, DVDs, etc. only this time is painted by Alex Ross.

COLLECTOR'S ADVICE: This soundtrack cannot be found at Amazon.com or any other usual internet sites, it's very hard to find even on Ebay. I was lucky to add one to MY COLLECTION earlier this year, so happy hunting!

GATCHAMAN DVDs

ADV Films released a restored version of this series that was originally called Battle of the Planets during the 70's and was later renamed G-Force during the 80's. This company took the original japanese series, cleaned it up, re-dubbed the episodes and returned it to its original cut and packed it in 9 volumes (pictured above), each containing 3 DVDs; 2 with the episodes and one with extra features. All the boxed sets (and their DVDs inside them) contain Alex Ross' art which is reprinted from previously published art from the hit Top Cow comics series except for volumes 1, 3 and 6 which are detailed in the picture below.
IN MY COLLECTION: Volumes 1,2 and 3.
It's important to note that volume 2's extra features DVD contains a documentary and interview with Alex Ross which you can check out below, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Alex Ross Collector.

MY PROFILE PHOTO

I'm writing this post to introduce myself. After a year of being just The Alex Ross Collector, I've decided to give more details about myself to all blog visitors who haven't written me a line and don't know my name unlike the ones who have sent me e-mails and whom I've become friends with. So I've updated my blogger profile and here's a picture of my mug. It's blurry, I know but click to enlarge it and you'll see it's made of tiny pictures of Alex Ross' art in a cool mosaic. Kinda like the poster for the movie The Truman Show. If you're wondering how I did it, I used a software called MacOSaiX which I think is really cool. Sorry PC users but this software is for Mac users only. If you know a similar program for PC, tell me (and all the blog readers) about it in the comments section.

Thanks,
The Alex Ross Collector

HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

In another bout with TV nostalgia (as it wasn't clearly visible with Battle of the Planets and Thundercats) Alex Ross embarked on yet another one of these projects. The DVDs for this show's season packages contain cards with art from comic book legends such as Bruce Timm, Adam Hughes and of course our very own Alex.
Mr. Ross' pencilled card has a huge fight of good vs. evil, this art was later reprinted in the 2007 sketchbook. It's a marvelous image, it has all the essential characters from the TV show.in a massive, in-your-face battle as only Alex could render. My only complaint is that I just wish it were fully painted an made into a poster. On the flip side there's a short bio on Alex which you can see below.
This card is IN MY COLECTION as well.
